Speed Blot
Do More -- Go Faster

Speed Blot was conceived to address challenges in repeatable and precise grid preparation in the cryo-EM workflow using the well established blotting technique.

Our work over two decades has allowed us to understand and begin to control the key physical and chemical changes that takes place to your sample in the preparation of grids.

Designed with the user in mind, it allows you to push your scientific capabilities. Speed Blot is currently undergoing Beta Testing with selected partners.

Capabilities

Speed

From the point your sample is applied to the grid then the air-water interface, grid chemistry and evaporation can start to generate artefacts. Speed Blot has been designed mitigate these effects.

Precision

You want every blot event to be identical. The latest in digital servo control means the force applied to the grid is the same on each cycle. It allows repeatable grid preparation every time.

Flexibility

Two pairs of blotting arms, each arm independently driven gives you great flexibility. Pre-defined programmes include one or both pairs to blot, single sided blotting or even the ability to use arms to add a second sample the grid. We can work with you to develop new approaches to grid preparation including time resolved approaches.

Control

Control of Speed Blot is through a intuitive controller that is  pre-loaded with programmes. The display walks you through the operations in your sample preparation - from applying the sample to when to move the grid to the liquid nitrogen. It offers additional flexibility including triggers to outside equipment.
